Franklin, TN – The Franklin Police Department will begin accepting flood-damaged ammunition from all Williamson County residents today. Citizens who live outside the city limits of Franklin can bring ammunition that was damaged in last month’s flood to the Franklin Police Department, 900 Columbia Avenue. An officer will accept the ammunition and place it in the property room, where it will be stored until it can be properly disposed of. Citizens who reside in the city limits of Franklin can call (615) 794-2513 and have an officer respond to their home to accept the ammunition.
When turning in ammunition, residents are asked to specify if the ammunition was damaged in the flood or if it is just unused ammunition.
Franklin Police will accept flood-damaged ammunition through 06/30/2010.
For people living in Davidson County -
Davidson County residents should call 862-8600 if they wish to dispose of flood-damaged ammunition. A responding officer will file a report and accept the ammunition, which will then be returned to the police property room until it can be destroyed, according to Metro police.
